“Ladies’ Night Out” Hollywood Glamour
Date/Time: August 27, 2011, -

Hollywood Has Nothing on a Glamorous Group of Brevard County Women

A record sell-out crowd of more than 200 women gathered for Candlelighters’ 2011 Ladies Night Out "Hollywood Glamour" Event!

From the delicious food & drink, to the rockin’ music enjoyed on the packed dance floor, to the uninhibited, enthusiastic response to the live auctions, the night was everything all those who attended expected, and more.

The support of more than 200 sponsors, donors, and volunteers made it possible to raise more than $20,000 this exciting night to help Brevard County children battling cancer. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without everyone.

The evening’s speaker, Candlelighter mom, Natalie French, spoke of laughter and tears, and with her heartfelt words helped demonstrate why the organization exists, and why people volunteer and support Candlelighters: “Thank God that all my child remembers about this time is that this has been the most exciting time of her life. She won’t remember the chemo or the needles, but she will remember the fun stuff. Thank God for Candlelighters that has helped us so much and brought smiles to our faces—thank you for helping our family, and so many other Brevard County families that are battling childhood Cancer.”

Some exciting evening highlights —Tommie Edwards was the proud winner of the Limousine Giveaway. ‘Yay’ for Tommie! And GIANT kudos goes to 20-year old Lindsey Coleman (volunteer)— she was the lucky winner of the $2,500 fifty/fifty raffle, and generously donated ALL her winnings back to Candlelighters!

Thanks to everyone, and that includes YOU, that supported this effort and made it happen.  You should have a very warm feeling of satisfaction for a job well done.   Every single member that worked behind the scenes, actively worked the event, did the poker run, came out and joined us on JAM DAY, and those that supported  us financially deserve a great big THANK YOU for a job well done.  A job that will pay dividends long into the future for the families with kids with cancer.  Give yourself  a pat on the back.  I thank you for your efforts from the bottom of my heart.  SCJR can be very proud of your diligence and perseverance in making this fundraiser a success.
 CONGRATULATIONS SCJR!!!!!!
 God bless you all.-Capt Curt

Julia's Party for a Cause
Date/Time: April 30, 2011, -

Our daughter, Julia, was diagnosed with a brain tumor on April 12, 2008. Following her 6 hour surgery and 9 days in Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, she was able to return home. Julia is now a very active 8 year old who loves going to school, playing soccer, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. We are so incredibly blessed. We also know how incredibly lucky we are.

In the months following Julia’s surgery we began to hear from and meet several families with children who were fighting battles that no child should have to fight. It was during this time that we also learned about Candlelighters of Brevard, Inc. and what this organization does for these families.

We could not wait to help! Our 3rd annual “Julia’s Party for a Cause” was held on April 30, 2011. We contacted our friends and family that helped us the previous 2 years and they were all eager to help again. We had over 300 people show up over the course of the afternoon and everyone was treated to delicious barbecue, cold drinks, fun and games, music and dancing! After all was said and done we were able to net nearly $16,000.00. All proceeds were given to Candlelighters.

 See you next year!

Crystal's Walk & Ride 2011
Date/Time: April 16, 2011, -

Dear friends,

It is with great gratitude and pride that we greet you on this wonderful day of giving to children and families in need.  Crystal is smiling with the angels for your generous participation in today’s event.

It truly is difficult to understand how all alone a family feels when faced with their child having cancer. The limited choices and the fears of the unknown torture you daily.  There is no amount of money or things that can take away that pain.  Money cannot buy Life! But coming together to Love one another with One Heart is the only true comforter in the Universe.

Today we feel your Love and appreciate your awareness of others in need and as the consciousness of the world increases, healing will occur. The Candlelighters has been a great local platform for all of us to express our tremendous gratitude for Life.  All of your contributions and participation are an example of the One Infinite Love we share.

Thanks again for making a special day even better by being here.

We love you,

The Kabboord Family

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised over $23,000!!!

"Hands of Hope" Poker Run
Date/Time: March 26, 2011, 10:00 am-3:00 pm

Our first “Hands of Hope” Poker Run was held on Saturday March 26th at Sea Breeze Steakhouse.  It was a beautiful day for a ride and we were greeted at each stop with the hospitality of our participating Motorcycle Clubs, the Warlocks, the Dragon Slayers, the Saints MC and the Leathernecks.   Management and employees at Sea Breeze treated all of us with great respect and were as accommodating as they could possibly be.  With the attendance of 26 riders, the turnout wasn’t as big as we had anticipated but the generosity shown by those there was tremendous.  The winning Poker hand received $100, the worst Poker hand received $50, the club best represented (The Dragon Slayers) received $100, (they also made a donation) and our 50/50 raffle which was half of $150 was ALL DONATED BACK TO CANDLELIGHTERS!!   We wish to thank Sea Breeze Steakhouse, Richard Hawks and Eric Hargreaves (Run Promoters) for their dedication and support of our children and their families.  Our tight knit group of riders raised $1,095.00!!
